GLP-1 medications are an incredible tool for weight loss, but they often come with unintended side effects. Facial fat loss, skin laxity, and muscle depletion contribute to a more aged appearance, but these effects are not irreversible.
No matter how weight loss occurs, understanding how to support the skin and underlying structure is key to maintaining a youthful look.
For those experiencing sagging or volume loss, a combination of in-office treatments skin rejuvenation treatments with medical-grade skincare would be a non-surgical approach, but for true correction, a surgical procedure like Vertical Restore® or a facial fat transfer can help address deeper structural changes that are happening to the face shape.
The best approach is proactive care. A targeted, daily skincare routine and healthy lifestyle habits offers the most effective path to restoring facial youthfulness and long-term skin health.
A Skincare Strategy for Everyone
Whether you’re currently using GLP-1s, thinking about starting, or simply noticing signs of aging from time, sun, or stress—a consistent, science-backed skincare routine is your first and most important defense.
You don’t need a separate skincare system for weight loss. What you need is a strategy that works for all causes of aging: one that stimulates collagen, reinforces the skin barrier, hydrates deeply, and protects daily against environmental damage.
That’s exactly what the KaramMD Trifecta was built to do. It eliminates the guesswork by giving your skin everything it needs in three simple, clinically formulated steps. The result? Skin that’s stronger, brighter, and more resilient over time.
Here’s the thing: GLP-1 medications don’t directly age your skin—they just reveal what’s already happening beneath the surface.
And while treatments like fat transfer or Vertical Restore may be necessary for structural correction, your daily skincare habits are what preserve those results—and your skin’s health—for years to come.
Don’t wait for your skin to catch up with time or weight loss. Be proactive. The right ingredients, used consistently, will help restore, protect, and maintain your skin at every stage of life.
Because skincare isn’t just about reversing damage.
It’s about building a foundation of confidence and vitality that lasts.

I am 55 and drink very little water. And I have been this way since I can remember. I do drink coffee and Tea which contain a lot of water. But my go to is Dr Pepper (ouch). So my skin would be more on the dry side obviously. I noticed that peptides have not been mentioned? I am not sure if this is even an option that you believe in. I am a big believer in peptides and focus on peptides that infiltrate at a mitochondria level. What are your thoughts on this for a primary source of collagen producing from within. I have a facial routine that involves GHK-CU, turmeric oil, Vitamin C and Retinol. That I have faithfully committed to for the last 8 years. I have yet to see a noticeable difference in fine lines. No new ones have formed. But the ones present do not seem to diminish? Any suggestions?

Hi—Thank you for your comment! Peptides are absolutely an ingredient Dr. Karam believes in, and they are included in Illuminate along with retinol, niacinamide, antioxidants, and hydrating ingredients. The combination of these ingredients is designed to work together to support collagen, hydration, firmness, and overall skin health.
If you’re interested in learning more about Dr. Karam’s thoughts on peptides, we’ve also shared a journal article specifically on their role in skincare. As for the fine lines that have remained despite your routine, a consultation with your dermatologist would be the best way to determine what additional options may be appropriate for you.

Hi Dr Karam
I would like to hear more about your method of fat transfer. I had it done after a facelift about ten years ago. I’ve never looked better! Unfortunately it only lasted a year. I recently had another facelift and would love to get fat transfer again but my doctor no longer provides it because he says he now feels it’s unpredictable and doesn’t last long enough and prefers using fillers.
I follow your work closely and see that you do fat transfer often and say it is long lasting. Do you have a method that you use that allows it to be dependable and long lasting that other doctors don’t know how to do? If so I would love to have you do it! Please let me know!

Thanks for your assistance. My face seriously looks old and I have lost substantial amount of weight. This may be due to hep C which they said I am having and the drug prescribed for me.
Best regards.
