When it comes to our skin, we can be proactive about the aging process.
By taking the right steps to prevent the signs of age in the first place, the skin can remain more youthful and supple for years.
Here are 3 easy tips on how the skin’s aging process can be significantly slowed and prevented.
01.
The Sun is the Greatest Accelerator to Aging.
It’s well known that exposure to the sun during our lives has its consequences as we get older. On the other hand, a significant lack of sun exposure pauses and slows down the aging process of the skin.
A patient who is not in the sun much, maybe because they live in a cold climate where the sun isn’t out as often, is going to have younger, more supple skin. A patient who is from southern California or another sunny area where they were out tanning a lot will look older.
Whether you live in a cold or warm climate and are or aren’t out in the sun all the time, you can protect your skin and prevent the signs of age with a good sunscreen. Look for the following qualities in your sunscreen:
- Broad-spectrum
- Non-greasy
- Non-comedogenic
- Sweat and waterproof
- Zinc and titanium dioxide-based
- Tinted, so that it can be used as a foundation
02.
Follow a Daily Skincare Routine.
Besides sun protection, a daily skincare routine is the next most important factor in preventing aging skin.
The right skincare routine will effectively help prevent your skin from aging. Ensure you are using products with the following anti-aging ingredients, each of which will address a specific part of the skin and help prevent the signs of age.
To make it easier for patients to protect their skin and prevent the signs of aging, I spent five years developing The Trifecta, my own skincare line that includes all of these ingredients and more in only three products.
- Retinol: Increases cell turnover, stimulates collagen production, decreases pigmentation, and achieves a number of other beneficial results.
- Vitamin C: A fundamental component of a good skincare routine, stimulating collagen, decreasing pigmentation, brightening the skin to achieve a youthful glow, and acting as an antioxidant.
- Hyaluronic acid and lipids: Two key hydration components. Hyaluronic acid is like a super sponge that retains water to lock moisture into the skin and achieve a supple, soft look. Lipids manage and balance the oil texture of the skin, helping dry skin achieve better hydration and drying oily skin.
- Niacinimide: Achieves skin surface immunity, skin health, and general protection of the surface structure.
- Peptides: Specialized molecules that stimulate collagen, decrease the loss of elastin, stimulate growth factors and strengthen the skin matrix.
- Non-hydroquinone, botanical lighteners: Azelaic Acid and Licorice Root can be an important part of your skincare routine to lighten and brighten the skin and reduce pigmentation.
03.
Be Consistent.
It can be hard to do anything consistently--unless it’s simple. These two points, protecting your skin from the sun and maintaining a good skincare routine, are simple enough to do every day. But without consistency, the results won’t be the same.
Be consistent in protecting your skin from the sun and putting these active ingredients on your skin. If you stay consistent on a daily basis, your skin will get better and better. You can actually get results and improvements in a matter of 3-4 months.
Take care of your skin and make it the commitment that you have to yourself. Keep it simple with these three steps and successfully prevent aging skin.
The Trifecta Skincare Collection: Easy as 1-2-3
After realizing there wasn’t an affordable way to get all of those ingredients separately, nor was there an effective skincare line that could be easily followed with less step, I spent five years creating the groundbreaking KaramMD skincare line.
The KaramMD Trifecta provides all the vital ingredients in an easy, three-step system that is suitable for all skin types. This was my solution to anti-aging, my own personal way to prevent aging skin and help my patients do the same.
